A total of 120 poems have been selected and translated into English by Nastaran Nosratzadegan and will be offered by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts Publications.
The book also includes a preface that reviews Sepehri’s poems from an aesthetic viewpoint, Nosratzadegan mentioned in a press release.
“I have tried to select independent parts from Sepehri’s long poems and translate them into English,” she said.
She has previously translated another poem collection by Sohrab Sepehri under the title of “The Secret of The Red Rose”.
Previously, Iranian translators Ismaeil Salami and Abbas Zahedi translated a collection of poems by Sepehri that was released by Zabankadeh Publications.
Sepehri (1928-1980) is second only to poet Nima Yushij, who is known for his pure style of blank verse.
As a talented artist and a gifted poet, Sepehri came to prominence with the publication of “The Water’s Footfall”. Blending visual images taken from paintings with eastern mysticism, Sepehri produced a kind of poetry that is unique and original. He died of cancer of the blood in Tehran in 1980.
